Christopher Olson Lo-fi in extremis, indeed! Hauntingly beautiful, mysterious, compelling and even a little disturbing. This is challenging, rewarding stuff.

This is my first experience with Tim Bowness solo. I first became aware of the artist from his work on Judy Dyble's masterpiece, Talking To Strangers. Bowness co-produced that gorgeous album with Alistair Murphy (The Curator). Both artists also contributed their their writing, playing, and singing skills as well. Murphy lays down some wicked synthesizer on voiceloop5. This is the most demanding track on the EP, and of course, my favorite. Pick this up! Favorite track: voiceloop five.

about

This EP comprises five voiceloop pieces recorded between 2006 and 2013.

voiceloop one is an edit - by Andy Butler - extracted from a 20 minute improvisation.

voiceloop five is a piece developed out of Peter Hammill's guitar contributions for the track At The Centre Of It All (released on Memories Of Machines' Warm Winter). I isolated Peter's parts and improvised a vocal loop on top of them. Alistair Murphy subsequently added several analogue synthesiser lines.

voiceloops two, three and four were self-produced home studio experiments.

All the original files have been lost for voiceloops one, two, three and five, so only the (upgraded) mp3s remain.

Lo-fi in extremis!
